sgiving books and pick up a whole load of waiting Christmas books! I love love love the online reserve system. Instead of browsing through hundreds of titles with toddlers in tow, I can leisurely browse the shelves at my own pace in the middle of the night when all disruptions are snoring peacefully in their beds. The best part is that the librarians have all my reserved materials ready for me at the front and I don't have to go searching for anything!

Lindsay - Nice post and nice way to tie it into your business. Yes, I too love the library reservation system. However, they didn't have tie decorate your socks craft when my kids were little. Great idea!
Carla - They've done stockings in Elk River since I was little. :) Must be area specific!
Carla, I was going to say the same thing. Great way to promote your business. What a great tradition. We don't decorate our own but everyone in my family has used the same ones for years.
Michael. We used the same stockings all growing up but I started afresh with my family. The ones they make at the library decorate the library until Christmas. :)

Lindsey, that's a neat tradition - I really like that. I'm sure there's a few people here in the rain who will love this idea. Me, I just have my puppies' stockings up, LOL.

Juli - I'm sure that your puppies prefer the stockings hung rather than on their feet.
Ok, Lindsey, this is getting really, really freaky now! We call them socky-socks! (At least, the little kids do.)
We didn't decorate our own stockings but I did let each child pick out their own stockings years ago. We used to have the same stockings for years and years when I was a kid but we, too, started fresh when we started our own family.
I think the thing I love most about our house is that we have a fireplace with a mantle. You just can't hang stockings appropriately any other way!

Renae! What a great laugh or two!!! I love things like socky-socks. It's the verbage that makes it so much fun! And, stockings just aren't the same if they aren't hanging under a fireplace. :)

We have reservations at our library too. Two of them even have drive thru's too...man do I love that.
