Where are those buyers?

Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty

I've found that the number of buyers this year in the Metro DC area are way below the norm. Even adjusting for the slow market (sellers becoming buyers when their house sells) they haven't been doing much here.

Is it the mid-term election or the press reports of a slow down. Are there still too many real estate agents in the area - we've lost a lot this year already? Can we expect the NAR ad's to have any impact on the DC area market?

If you have any good answers I'd love to hear about them.

Nigel, the news media has not helped matters, but here in Connecticut I have been busy.  I had my best quarter last quarter and this one is going almost as good. I guess different parts of the country are experiencing different things.

I am in Illinois ... also still waiting for the buyers to show up ... well, I have quite a few lined up .... but guess what, they need to sell their current homes first ... which isn't quite happening right now :-(

ads are ads and people know it ... I don't think we will see much change and positive market reactions untill the reporting media and newspapers, not the paid for advertising campaigns, tell the public that the situation in fact isn't as bad as many people think. In my opinion, it was the media who started it and it may not get much better until they fix it!
