I have always wanted to put out a cook book with my favorite recipes with stories over the last 25 years. I am going to include a section on the my favorite food the American HamBurger. I am going to spend the next year searching for the Best Bay area Burger. I will call the section "Buddy's Burgers"and who knows maybe I will open a burger chain and call it McBuddys.
The Tee Off Bar and Grill
Jane and I headed over to S.F. for our 18th anniversary last night to find a dive and we had help from Guy fieri from the three D's show on the Food Network. Tee Off Bar and Grill was one of the Dives we saw on the show and we found it on Clement St. One cool thing about finding the restaurant was going from one end of Geary St to the other.
Got a parking spot right in front of Tee Off Bar and Grill and walked in and we were in a bar. Yup a bar, as we walked in there were a few people at the bar and a couple of guys playing pool right at the tables you eat at. We knew we were in for something special, and wherever you sit you pretty much need to move every now and then for someone to make a shot on the pool table. The waiter/bartender (Curtis) was a real happy, personal dude that could get along with anyone. We started to ask if this was the place and before we could finish the question he looked at us with a smile and said "this is the place"
The guys who were playing pool were real friendly and only had to ask us about 4 times to move a bit to make a shot. I watched their food come out and I had already ordered, but not what I came for... the burgers were so awesome looking. I asked the people at the table on the other side of the pool table if we could take a picture of their food before they started eating and they said yes. The chicken pot pie comes with a crust made of sweet cornbread......OMG.....my oh my.....
I ordered the double pork chop that come out with enough yams, zucchini, spinach, and corn on the Cob, for 2 or 3 people and a mound of mashed potatoes the size of Mt. Diablo. Unbelievable food and everything had a great grilled flavor. My wife ordered the Mac and Cheese dinner and it was all the rave it has been written and talked about on TV. We had another couple come in from Alameda and we asked if they came, because of the show and they said yes.....Curtis said that business was up over 40% since the show aired 2 years ago and it continues to air on reruns and keeps them jumping still everyday......This was such a great experience I am heading back to get my favorite... the Cheese Burger with a great big onion ring on the top.
Paul's Crafty Mac N Cheesewith Pancetta recipe can be found on the Food Network website.
