Centennial, Colorado located in Arapahoe county, has a population of about 103,000. It stretches as far west as Broadway and all the way east to Gun Club Road. The city has around 36,400 households. The median age is 37.4. The median household income is 96,342, with the average household income being $108,847. Centennialhas the lowest crime rate of the larger cities in Colorado according to a study of FBI data by a national publishing company. And for the sixth year in a row, Centennial is the top city in Colorado on Washington DC -CQ Press's index, "City Crime Rankings 2010-2011: Crime in Metropolitan America." Centennial had the 23rd lowest crime rate for cities over a population of 75,000.
The Arapahoe CountySheriff's Office Communication Center earned international accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, the onlylaw enforcement agency in Colorado to earn such honorary accreditation.
Centennial has also created a Centennial Senior Citizen to advise on the council on senior-related issues. This was in response due to the community's aging population.
The city of Centennial is a 2010 Colorado Merit winner as an Outstanding Project Planner, chosen by the Colorado Chapter of the American Planning Association.
Centennial was awarded the 2010 Public-Private Partnership for it's public works contract for street maintenance, traffic engineering and snow removal.
