I had a very Good reason for getting into real estate. Make that two Good reasons. Fran and Bob Good, Realtors with Coldwell Banker Jim Stewart, Realtors in Waco Texas. Better known as The Good Team.
You see, when my husband Larry and I bought our house in June of 2003, Fran was our agent. We went to her office on Saturday, she pulled up 32 houses that fit what we wanted, narrowed that to 19, then we drove by to look at them on our own on Sunday and narrowed that to 11. By the time we met with her on Wednesday to go look, 5 were sold and one we decided to mark of the list because it didn't have central air. In Texas, you can't live without central air.
So we looked at 5 and called her the next day to say we wanted to make an offer on the second one. But the sellers refused our first offer. So we made another offer, then their agent went on vacation. Then Fran went on vacation, so it was about a week and a half before we knew they had accepted our second offer.
And that was the only hitch. Everything else progressed smoothly. Fran gave us a list of inspectors, Bob came to the inspection. We were sweating the appraisal a little. It only appraised for $3,000 more than we were paying.
Fran even called to say we could close four days earlier than scheduled, but we couldn't get of work that day. When we came for the final walk-through about an hour before closing the insurance policy was in our mailbox!
I had thought about getting into real estate in the early 1980's, but didn't. So after buying our house, Fran made it seem so easy, I thought " I want to do that."
So in 2006 I started real estate classes and in March 2007 got my license. Of course now I appreciate Fran that much more, because I realize it is NOT easy. A great Realtor just makes it seem that way. Thank you Fran and Bob.
