People that relocate to Northern Virginia are always pleased with the quality of the public parks in the various jurisdictions.  Fairfax County, in particular, has a park system to be envied since it provides facilities for almost every conceivable recreational need.  It is only one of the many reasons people find it desireable to purchase real estate in Fairfax County.

Springfield has the normal complement of neighborhood parks and playgrounds, but there are four major facilities providing a broad range of recreational activities for Springfield residents.

South Run Recreation Center is located on the Fairfax County Parkway and has a 25 meter pool, sauna, spa, fitness rooms, meeting rooms plus racquetball, handball, wallyball, squash  and tennis courts.  There are outdoor ball fields as well.

Lake Accotink is a 493 acre park with a 55 acre lake.  Activities include boating, fishing, hiking, and carousel.  Sailboats under 18', boats with electric motors and kayaks are allowed.  Paddle boats may be rented also

Wakefield Park Recreation Center located on Braddock Road just west of the Beltway is home to the Audrey Moore Rec Center with indoor pool, exercise facilities and meeting rooms.  There is also a very popular Cross County Trail, lighted tennis and basketball courts as well as baseball and soccer fields.

Burke Lake Park with a 218 acre lake is located on the Fairfax County Parkway west of Lee Chapel Road and east of Burke Lake Road, making it very accessible to all areas of Springfield.  It has a golf course, boat rental, camping facilities, fishing, carousel and miniature railroad.

Springfield  has great schools, excellent commuting options, convenient shopping and well maintained subdivisions in addition to public recreational facilities.
