Brevard NC Twight Light TourSmall towns like Brevard, NC seem to move to a different rhythm than larger cities. It's one of the reasons we moved here. We enjoy the quieter, slower way of life in the mountains. If you're living a hectic, fast paced life, skip the holiday madness and head to the mountains for a change of altitude. Take some time to enjoy a cool brisk hike through the mountains with nothing but the sound of the crunching leaves under your feet to break the quiet. Stroll leisurely down main street, enjoying the art galleries, shops, and restaurants. At day's end do a little star gazing or just warm your toes by a roaring fire at a creek side cabin.

It's all right here in Brevard, NC. Come this month to enjoy all the holiday festivities and you'll feel like you've been taken back in time and made part of a Norman Rockwell painting.

On Saturday, December 4 Brevard will be lit up with the 23rd annual Twighlight Tour. Take a carriage ride, or stop at the gazebo to enjoy a local choir. The family fun starts at 3 pm with the Jingle Bell parade so come early for a front row seat along the sidewalk.

At 7:30 pm, head over to the Porter Center on the campus of Brevard College for 13th annual performance of The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols.  The performance will include new and traditional carols sung by the Chamber Chorale and Concert Choir under the direction of Brevard College’s Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities Michael Porter. The service, which features traditional Christmas readings by Brevard College students and faculty, is modeled on the traditional Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols first held on Christmas Eve in 1918 at King's College Chapel in Cambridge, England.

On December 11, take a tour of of some of Brevard's finer neighborhoods and maybe pick up a holiday decorating tip or two at the annual Holiday Tour of Homes.  The tour features homes in Straus Park, Cadence Point, Mountain Brook, and the Rosman, Middlefork, and Glady Fork areas.  Tickets to this event are $30 and are now on sale by calling 828-884-2787. Homes are selected by location, décor, design and or views.

On December 17, enjoy a stroll around downtown Brevard for the Brevard Gallery Walk. Retail stores, restaurants, and art galleries will be open late from 5-9 pm. It's a great time to wrap up all your holiday shopping! For more information call TC Arts Council at 828-884-2787 or go to www.artsofbrevard.org.

Come for the weekend, come for the week. You may find you never want to leave!
