Beautiful Scenery From Palo Duro Canyon -- May 2010palo duro canyon

These pictures were taken at Palo Duro Canyon on May 19th, 2010.  What a lovely contrast between the orange and beige rocks and the beautiful green trees.

purple flowers

These cute purple flowers kind of looked like purple bluebonnets or snapdragons, but when I looked it up on the Texas Wildflower chart it looks like locoweed.

Another shot of the wonderfully colored layers that are exposed from erosion.

flowers

I think these yellow beauties are Golden Groundsels or Paper Flowers.

While there are great places to drive around and take pictures of the canyon, there are hiking opportunies as well.

water

There is also a small river going through part of the Texas State Park.  Hope you are able to visit the Canyon someday.

WOW those flowers did look like Texas Blue Bonnets! Must be a different variety and then given a different name.

I didn’t know there was that kind of beauty in Texas. It looks more like the pictures that Wanda and Tony & Darcy post from southern Utah.
