America, the land of plenty, has some big food issues.  Many of us eat too much and our bodies balloon to unnatural sizes, and others go to bed and school hungry.  Hospitals are full of people who ate too much and have life threatening diseases as a result of overindulging.  Food banks are running out of food to feed the hungry.

 

I decided to banish junk food from my shopping cart during the month of December, and with the money I save (not to mention the calories) donate a bag of groceries to local food banks each time I shop.  Yes, I'll miss those delicious Paul Newman cookies and dark chocolate orange sticks, but I can't say I didn't feel just a tad smug as I watched a bag of groceries be placed in the food bank cart as I wheeled my cart out the door junk food free.

 

Nothing like tackling both issues with one action.
