Sears - A very cool thing you may want to know this Holiday season.............Pay It Forward

A dear friend of mine, Faith Minton (love her!), recently let me know about this.

By law, when someone serves in the military, their employer is required to hold their jobs open and available to them, but nothing more.  Usually, people take a big pay cut and lose benefits as a result of being called up for active duty.

Sears is voluntarily paying the difference in salaries and maintaining all benefits, including medical insurance and bonus programs, for all called up reservist employees for up to two years.

To verify this, Faith emailed Sears management, and this is the response she received:

Dear Customer:

Thank you for contacting Sears. The information is factual. We appreciate your positive feedback.

Sears regards service to our country as one of greatest sacrifices our young men and women can make. We are happy to do our part to lessen the burden they bear at this time.

Both Faith and I feel that Sears should be recognized and commended for going against the trend to provide some job security to those men and women serving our country.

Even if Sears would not be your first choice, perhaps it is possible this Holiday season to purchase at least one thing at Sears to show your recognition and support for their policy.

If you do, make sure you find a manager and tell them you heard about their policy on ActiveRain, you are a proud member of the Pay It Forward angels, and that is the reason why you have chosen to shop at their establishment.

If there is not a location near you, then perhaps online at http://www.sears.com/

Much love, prosperity, and positive energy to you all this Holiday season,

The Ralphster

Unfortunatley, I don't shop at Sears - there isn't one anywhere close to me.  But I will pass this information on since it's really something I feel strongly about.  Our military needs all the support when they return that they can possibly get.

The onlly sears near me in the appliance outlet type store.  I do and will always buy my appliances from sears. (I can also attest to their standing behind their warranty as I lost a freezer full of food and they paid for all the lost food when my freezer failed).

And being the daughter of Navy man the wife of Army man I certainly appreciate what Sears is doing.  I'm sure many reservists working for Sears have benefited from this wonderful gesture.

There should be more big business companies that do this.  I appreciate anything anyone does to benefit those who have served our country so well.

That is so nice that they can do this, and also good to know that some businesses (big and small) still have some dough.

OK I will make sure to visit Sears and if anyone doesn't have one near, they can shop on line.

Thanks for passing this info on.  I had heard that a long time ago, but it had been long forgotten.  I will make a point to do some shopping at Sears and let them know why.   Thanks again.

Ralph, Sears is where I shop for appliances, towels and bedding. I agree with you and Faith that Sears needs to be recognized for their contribution and support! Way to go!!!!! Thanks.
