Clarification is Key- 31 Days of December Challenge

WOW!

I should've known you Rainers would start pouring down ideas, questions, thoughts and good will upon me.  I'm soaked!

If this is the first time you are hearing of the 31 Days Challenge, here is a link to my original post, with updates: http://activerain.com/blogsview/1995034/update-plus-3000-points-are-you-up-for-a-challenge-31-days-of-december-challenge

If you are looking for the group, try this link: http://activerain.com/groups/31DaysofDecemberChallenge

OTHER CLARIFICATIONS:

Based on the questions that I have received, I hope this clarifies things.  If not, feel free to email, comment, or call!

  1. If you do the challenge, you get the points.  Yep, 3000 of 'em are all yours.
  2. Post what you have done a minimum of 5 times per week.  Now, this does NOT mean you need to write a novel.  I do not want this to take away from your business building activities and consumer oriented blog posts!  That's the good thing about this Challenge.  As Ed Silva put it: "Jennifer, this is feast or famine as far as posts for points. But this one has the added benefit of getting business out of it, so it's a win win $$$."  And that's the idea!  Just a few lines about what you have done today or for the last couple of days.  Posting here keeps us accountable and also shares ideas with others who are looking for ideas.
  3. Honor system.  If you post that you made 10 phone calls or sent 2 texts, or had a cookie exchange with your SOI, I'll believe you.  If you're lying, you'll get points, but really that's not the most important thing.  Fostering those relationships will pay off come Jan-Feb-Mar and beyond.
  4. Every little bit counts!  See above (#3).
  5. Let me know if this helps or hurts your understanding of the Challenge!
  6. We're in this together.  Ok, I'm a big Cheeseball, but really, we are!

All the best!

Jennifer

This has been so great for me!  Not only is it holding my accountable to do something daily for my business, but I am also seeing a lot of good ideas and strategies that I can implement as well.

Hi Jennifer,  Are you sorry you got this going?  : )  I am jumping in today; hopefully not too late, but I have to start blogging again (took a few days off).  Thanks for the push.

Jennifer -

Expect most of these posts to be brief....I don't intend any of them for ordinary blog post points.

Hi Jennifer,

I love that your a cheeseball.  Christmas time, all the cheeseballs come out.  It can get very easy to slack off when there are so many distractions.  I think this will prove to be habit forming for some and afirming for others.  Maybe a follow up contest for January or February where the rewards reaped from this effort can be recapped.  What do you think?

Hi Jennifer,

I just found this challenge and was hoping I can still participate, it's Dec 7th.  My brain has to go back and try to remember everything I did last week, I did walk one of my farm's and hand out 94 flyers just yesterday, and was super busy last week.  The one thing I'm not doing enough of is blogging!

Oh crumbs....I joined late and put 7 days into one post instead of posting the minimum of 5 times during the week - does this mean I'm already out?

DUH, I should have read more about it!  Oh well, good exercise either way!  Thanks for thinking of it!

I notice that a lot of people are just basically doing diary posts, 'what I did today'. I don't know if that's what you wanted, but other people are posting some really great *new* ideas - things that get them out of their normal routine. It's inspiring to read those!

Joetta- Really, all I wanted to do was inspire others to take their business by the horns while creating an accountability group of Realtors.  I love the new ideas- they make this so much fun!  But I don't fault anyone for posting a list of things.  Most of all, I want this to be LOW stress!

Well I am too late to get in on it so will just have to watch and enjoy, while I am keeping busy with business, posting, errands and a ton of other things.

Jennifer: I love your challenge. Not only is it inspiring me to be more conscience of blogging, it inspired me to put out my own Challenge. Short and sweet; but it's hard to get the word out. Maybe you can give me some pointers about how to reach everyone. Here is my challenge.

I love starting off my day watching the sunrise over my neighborhood in Walnut Creek, CA.

(This photo was taken earlier this week, not this morning. It was fogged in today.)

Sunrise Over my neighborhood

I'd like to send out a challenge to all ActiveRain Members across the United States

For just one day, tomorrow (Saturday Dec 11, 2010) everyone up for this challenge grab your cup of coffee, your camera (or cell phone camera) and get outside early enough to take a photo of the sunrise over your neighborhood and post it to Active Rain.

I'm in California so I would be one of the last, along with Hawaii,  to see the sunrise but it would be so cool to see

The one-day collage of

"SUNRISE OVER MY NEIGHBORHOOD"

Take  your photo, post it to Active Rain noting the time and location.

Title it : SUNRISE OVER MY NEIGHBORHOOD - (your neighborhood, State)

That's it.

For all of you who don't get up that early... think of it as an additional Challenge.

Can't wait to see your SUNRISE

I love a challenge.  However, looks like I am 12 days late and a dollar short.  Darn, darn, darn!  I actually HAVE been getting myself geared up for the new year, and I guess that's the most important thing here.  Oh well, I will have to wait for the next one.  Good luck to all.

Sounds great!  I wish I would have read the "fine print" LOL better.  I post 5 days a week (take the weekends off) am on FB & Twitter too, but thought 31 days meant 31 days so didn't bother to join in.  Now that I see the rules are a bit flexible I wish I would have read more closely! :)  There are several people in our office that post every day during the week - it's kind of a rule where we work.  Definitely count me in for next year! :)
