fall at beach                 Fall is my favorite time of the year in eastern North Carolina.  September and October brings the fishermen and the families with no school age children to the coast but the busy summer season is over.

We get to enjoy our little piece of heaven in Hubert, Swansboro and other areas of Onslow County.

  • There is less traffic (auto and boat)
  • The lines at the restaurants have disappeared
Grocery stores are able to keep the shelves stocked                            thermometer 80 degrees

  • The shops and boutiques are quieter and
    merchandise is not "stirred"

  • Average daily temperatures -  September -- 83 degree and October 75 degrees --Just PERFECT!

  • You can get a tee time, tennis court or your boat put in the water the same day you call

  • There are lots and lots of wide, open spaces on the beach for your chair, cooler, etc.

  • The fishing picks up
  • The ocean water is still warm and it looks clearer and bluer          (Photo courtesy Flickr-Innamoo)
  • The fall festivals begin

  • The state fair opens in Raleigh

  • Football season begins
Welcome to eastern North Carolina, Fall--we've been eagerly expecting you.

Cynthia, We have been fortunate enough to have warmer then usual temperatures; I'm not one of those people that likes the COLD.  It sounds like a piece of heaven where you are and I would love the festivals!

Fall is my favorite time of year in Pennsylvania too. Clear crisp Canadian air, changing colors of the foliage and the wildlife scurrying around preparing for the winter. It's a great time of year!

I'm on my way!

Fortunately, autumn is gorgeous here as well. The sunlight is slightly lemony and the winds begin to pick up. Each day brings a surprise as far as the weather goes.

You certainly live in a beautiful place!  Now I want to plan a trip to that part of the country with it's beauty and all there is to do.

Hi Carole,
I am no fan of cold weather either and yes, the festivals are fun.  Hope your cleanup is still going well.  Thanks for coming to visit me.

Hello Michael,
I am pretty sure what you call crisp, I call cold.  LOL.  I do enjoy seeing the  leaves but have to travel out of my area to see good color.  Thanks for stopping in and visiting.

Hi Jennifer,
Come on, you would love it here.  My aunt & uncle moved to Newport, Oregon last year and I hope to visit them in the near future.  I understand they are about 3 hours from you?  I appreciate your visit and comments.

Hi Candy,
You really should, it's a great place but Texas is not bad either.  :0)  I enjoy having you visit my blog, thanks.

Hello Katie,
I know you are and ain't it great?  I bet Greenville was a crazy place to be Saturday night after beating my Tar Heels.  Thanks for stopping in here and commenting.

Hi Cynthia, Yes, Texas is really nice I must say.  Of course Houston is huge, but just outside in Spring, Where I live there are cattle & horse ranches. We are in the Piney woods as they say, and it is very green.  Plus the Gulf is very close as well.  I am from a smaller town in Mo. originally, and it seems more laid back like N.C.

Hi Michelle,
Yes it is--so pleasant and beautiful.  Thank you for stopping in and commenting.

Hi Candy,
I think you have a great setup being near a big city but live in a quieter, greener area.   Having the Gulf nearby is certainly nice.  Thanks for visiting and commenting.

Cynthia:  Same here for the North Georgia Mountains.  We love our tourists, we really do, but I can't help but admit that I love to have the "place" to myself so to speak.  Fall is my favorite.  Well written post and beautiful pictures..

With temps in the 90's here (Bradenton, FL), I wish I was there.  I always enjoy visiting North Carolina.

Hello Dan,
Well, I suppose all is fair-- come February, I will want to be in Florida.  LOL.  You are welcome.  I try to check out a lot of different people.  Thank you for stopping in here and comments.

Yes it is fall fair weekend on Salt Spring. Every person who has an in-bread chicken with two heads think he will leave the fair with the grand prise for livestock breading. Salt Spring's fall fair is great.

That's the kind of days we live for.  Lovely.  Thank you for stopping in and commenting.

Hi Scott,
You are a hoot, do you have a two headed chicken to  enter in the competition?  Enjoy the fair and I always enjoy your visits.  Thanks.
