Client appreciation party was a great learning tool!

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty-Fayetteville

A couple of agents in my office got to together to hold a client appreciation party or as we called it Cookies with Santa.  This was a first for us and unchartered territory so we were all a bit nervous. It was a learning process for all of us.   Now that the event is over and everything cleaned up, I have sat down and relaxed..and realized a few things.

First and most important, my database is not complete.  All throughout the day I realized I should of invited this person or that person.  That proves I need to work on my database!

The second thing I realized is I should I have sent reminders or evites out.  Several clients that had said they would be there did not come.  Now its possible something came up but as I sat there I wondered if maybe they had just forgotten.  If I had sent reminders out then I know I did all that I could.

The last thing I learned is my clients really do like to hear from me!  As I sat and talked with each client I realized that just toughing base every so often is OK with them!  They all said its so good to see you, call me soon, or stop by if your in the area.  All this time I worried that by calling them I was "bothering" them and now I realized that isnt the case as all!

I am sure there will be other things I think about later...but these three things are all something I can work on and improve so I will start with these!

Shawna,

Great ideas. I do client appreciations regularly and you are correct in that it helps to have your database up to date! I would like to hear what else you gleaned from the experience.

Don't be too tough on yourself . . .   I find that even with evite/email reminders, confirmation calls the day of, etc.  people will be people and just not do what they say they will.    Concentrate on those that do show up.

And, congratulations on taking that leap of faith and holding the party to begin with - many don't!!!!!

Shawna- this is great!  So many agents just go from one deal to the next until they just run out of clients.  The "trick" is to keep in touch with your contacts and sphere and create a relationship.  That way when they have need for an agent, they think of you first.  Keep going!

Hi Shawna,,,good job.  Thanks for sharing your perception of the event.  I have thought of having an event but have never done it.  You have helped me to see what I need to do to prepare.  Thanks!

The key to your real estate needs!

Ingrid, I realized my database not only needs to be up to date but used!

Susan, Thanks, your right it was a leap of faith but one I am very glad I did.  I am making notes on things that worked well and things I want to work on so next years event will be even better!

Rose, My thoughts exactly!

Jennifer, today was a real reminder that it is about relationships.  All of these clients had children and couldnt wait to show me how big the kids were now.

Judith, Thanks.  I have been thinking about it for a while and thank goodness I had someone help me actually get it done.  If you need any help I would love to share notes!

Renee, thanks!  I actually had a very good blogger help me set them up!  It was not hard, just a little time.

Shawna: It makes all the difference in the world when you realize that your clients are also friends and they DO want to hear from you! Not so scary after that!
