San Juan Capistrano's Christmas Tree Lighting 2010

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty

I'm sitting in the most beautiful real estate office in San Juan Capistrano and dare I say south Orange County. I have my red shirt on with my Christmas tie and I'm staring out the window at the Mission San Juan Capistrano. The Mission is all lit up and there's a line around the block getting ready to enter its grounds. On the other side of the building in the community park hundreds of residents have listened to Christmas music and watched the lighting of the 30 foot high Christmas tree. Then from around the corner the police, with lights a flashing, lead a marching band playing holiday music down the main street in front of our office. Adults with festive hats, groups of laughing teens, and children with scarfs and warm jackets follow. A young group of men in tuxedos with classical instruments play Christmas carols in front of Starbucks. People stream down the breezaway and the main sidewalk poking their heads into the office to say hi and grab a handful of miniature candy canes. Then a long candle lit vigil turns the corner and quietly heads toward the Mission.

It's a privilege to be part of San Juan Capistrano's historic downtown. Just another holiday extravaganza... personal, poignant and fun.

I lived in San Juan Capistrano from 1975 to 1977. Loved it! Is The Depot restaurant and bar still there? I was there opening night.

Michael.

Leslee and I visited the Mission just over a year ago.  Didn't know about the Christmas activities.

Best,

Steve

Ron, the San Juan Depot Bar & Grill is gone, but there is Sarducci's by the train station and the Vintage Steakhouse. They both incorporate the old train car look and feel.

Steve, The do a LOT of town celebrating in San Juan Capistrano. Besides the Christmas Tree lighting, there was a Veterans Day concert and activities, 9/11 remembrance, Halloween, etc.
