Move to Stapleton: A Resident Realtor's list of what we love about the Stapleton Community-#8

While living in the old homes of Denver has all the charm & beauty, there really is something to be said about living in a newly constructed home. Since we have moved to Stapleton, I very rarely stay awake wondering if I need to budget for a new furnace or that our neighbors just had their main sewer line replaced for $15,000- that would be a tough bill/pill to swallow.  Honestly though, I admit I fall in a trance every time I walk through an old home & remember having that kind of old character.  I certainly am a sucker for cove ceilings, little niches & leaded glass.  However, at the place I am in my life I have chosen to admire from a far & reap the benefits of an all purpose worry free home. Move to Stapleton

Maintenance of our 5 year old home is pretty simple & consists of blowing out the sprinklers (never had those before) & changing the furnace filter.  I'm sure there are a few more items but really for the most part not big money items.  Our old home in the Highlands was built in 1889 & starting a new project there was a lot different.  When a project started there, it was our experience that it was never what we thought it would be. There was always something more that needed to be done.  An example would be our kitchen remodel.  Our 1 month project turned into 6.  The whole back addition had to be torn off & rebuilt then they couldn't hang our cabinets because the brick kept crumbling, sigh. The thought of going through that again turns my stomach!  We actually have done a few projects in our current home.  We have tiled our master bath room- that was only 1 day, funny how quickly they were able to do it considering we had straight walls.   We also put in  new counter tops in our kitchen that was about 1 day as well.

When helping someone move to Stapleton, I always find out what their plan for their new home is.  I love when people want to add their own touches to make it their own & projects are not only welcome they are a must.  It reminds me so much of my start in home ownership & although it was a pain I really appreciated the finish product.  I also believe, that had I not gone through the remodeling of old homes I would never have the appreciation of living in a new home.

The space is so nice!  I love that I'm not sharing a bathroom with my kids any more or a sink with my husband! I love that my closet is a walk in.   To host a party in an open kitchen is heavenly!!  I'm also so excited to finish our basement & know that when my father- in-law comes down there, he won't need to duck his head! Stapleton builders have listened to what buyers want & have tweaked floor plans to make them more livable.

I don't love any bills, so to say I love the bills in my new house compared to the old is a lie, but I do like them more.  Our home in Congress park, built in 1910, is similar in size to our current Stapleton Home & our Utilities are about 2/3 less than we were paying.  All homes that are built in Stapleton now must be Energy Star rated so they are are not only better for our environment they are budget friendly.

I love all homes, maybe thats why I love my job so much, but for me I am loving the benefits of the move to Stapleton into a new construction home.
