Wise words by Satchel Paige, a pitcher in the Negro Leagues of American Baseball, and eventually in the major leagues. While he officially retired from baseball in 1953, at the age of 47, Paige pitched his last game in the 1969 preseason at the age of 63.
Satchel Paige, like many, was quoted many times, and possibly his most repeated quote is used as the title of this post.
While checking my position in Active Rain points standings, I was shocked to see that I had dropped from 95 to 98 in just over a week. This was doubly shocking in that I had only cracked the top 100 about 6 weeks ahead of that.
Not only that, but those that I passed had now slipped onto page 3. This just served as a reminder that I need to be more faithful in writing posts, as I have been a bit remiss recently. After all, I really would like to eventually make it to the first page.
Some of you may not know how to find out where you fit in the Active Rain points heirarchy. Of course, some of you might not care, but, for those that would like to know, here is how you can find out.
First, go to your home page. At the top you will see your picture and your total points.
Below that there wil be the information as shown above. Look at the 3rd line, Rank in Your State. Mine shows I am ranked #5 in Geogia. To see where you rank nationally, click on your rank #. This will take you to your home state page as shown below:
Immediately above that will be a black bar with a set of 3 drop down boxes. The second box will have your state in it. Click on the drop down arrow and scroll to the top of the list of states where it will state "All States". (Note: I did not include this in the picture because the snipping tool will not pick up the contents of the drop down boxes). This will take you to the Active Rain Leaderboard. You then only have to go to the bottom and at the far right will be a block that states "show me" (you can see it in the first image). Just click on that link and you will find where you rank. You can also see who is creeping up behind you.
So, if you are curious, check it out. Find out who you are chasing in the points standings, and find out who may be gaining on you!
