Golden - Sunshine & Home of the Jolly Rancher
You’ll have a hard time finding a more enjoyable area in Jefferson County than Golden real estate. Golden, which originated during Pike’s Peak Gold Rush, started out as a mining camp. At one time, Golden was the capital of the Colorado Territory. It wasn’t until 1862 that Colorado moved its capital 15 miles to the east to the city of Denver.
It’s that proximity to Denver that is, in part, what makes Golden property so desirable. Sure, Golden homes are part of a small community with a real sense of neighborhood and friendship. But it’s also within striking distance to all that Denver has to offer in the way of entertainment, recreation, education and the arts. Truly, this town is a wonderful mix of small town life and modern amenities.
There are a number of interesting features within Golden that you can enjoy without ever having to leave town. There is the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, as well as the Colorado Railroad Museum here, as well. You can visit the grave site of Buffalo Bill Cody, and you can take a tour through the Boettcher Mansion. There are also plenty of shops, boutiques and restaurants.
