From December 10 through January 2, 2011, the San Diego Zoo will be transformed into a holiday wonderland with colorful lights, magical displays, holiday music, and more! If you haven't been to the San Diego Zoo, or if it's been many years since you went, you'll be amazed at the many animals and plants. In fact, not only is the Zoo world famous, but it is also an internationally recognized botanical garden. Along with over four thousand animals representing over eight hundred species, there are also thousands of plants, many that you've probably never seen before. The Zoo sits on 107 acres in Balboa Park, which itself is a great holiday destination. Hello Jim and Vegas Bob loves the San Diego Zoo and I haven't been there in 30 years, has it changed ??? And your post has been "Highlighted/ Featured" at one of my favorite States & Groups ...
Vegas Bob ;-)
I love the San Diego Zoo! Haven't been there in quite a few years, but it holds a special place in my heart. Also enjoyed a few Sunday afternoons at the Houses of Pacific Relations in Balboa Park. GREAT area you have there!
Hi Jim, interesting tidbids about the koalas. I love the zoo there in San Diego. Its always great for pictures.
When we lived in California, we visited the San Diego Zoo several times. It is one of the best zoos I have ever been to. Hoping to get back there someday.
The SD Zoo is pretty amazing, Jim. I like the fact that they grow their own food for the pandas and koalas. I bet it is extra special with the Christmas lights all around.
Hey Jim, that must be an awesome sight with all the lights lite up :) Thanks for the insight with the info about the Zoo and it's animal friends :)
Jim: Love the zoo pics. Was there a few years back. Huge zoo and interesting exhibits. You write such an awesome local blog. In my mind the best blogs are ones like yours where the agent's local community and real estate is the highlight. Outstanding!
I guess it is time to revisit. I do love anything with a tail and a foot on each corner. (=D)
Jim, Yes that is a great zoo. Love their wild park also. Well what are koala's then? A marsupial? or just a mammal like us?
I remember seeing hand gliders not too far off from the entrance of the zoo on my last visit 10 years ago.

Good Morning Jim! Thanks for the inquiry-I am so busy right now I can't even breathe! I heard someone from the San Diego Zoo on the radio yesterday morning, they brought a Parrot into the studio and it was so great to hear the bird trying to mimic everything they were saying! It sounds like they have some great stuff going on at the zoo for the holidays-"Jungle Bells" is one of the things going on...it sounded like an interactive attraction and really fun for the kids.
Jim The San Diego Zoo is a great family treat while kids are out of school
Jim, I'd love to be able to go to the ZOO! Enjoy and season's greetings coming your way too!
Hey, everyone — Thanks for stopping by.

Happy new year to everyone!
Gloria – I believe koalas are marsupials since they carry their young in a pouch.
