Chop Wood, Carry Water, and Mortgage Vanishes - Day 6 of 31
Monday's are always busy for me. But, I accomplished my 'to-do' list; after going through my contact database this weekend I made a listing of whom to call and touch bases with - and I made the calls, talked to some, left messages for others. And it's only Monday. WOW!
What I was passionate about doing today was something entirely different however. I have been working with a single woman for a Reverse Mortgage; I'll call her Carmi - not her real name. Carmi is a widow, worked hard all her life, raised a family with her husband, had a 'meaningful' life as she puts it, and now in retirement is having a very hard time financially. She's 3 months late on her mortgage to be exact.
Carmi came to me as a referral, and didn't know much about Reverse Mortgages, and was not so sure 'this would work' (her exact words), even though she's lived in her home for a few years and had equity. I explained again, she decided to give it a shot, so I pre-qualified her and we started the paperwork. That was a few weeks ago.
Closing is just around the corner, and Carmi is beyond thrilled to no longer have mortgage payments. For the rest of this woman's life, no mortgage payments. After talking with her today I was reminded why I love my job. I love helping people. I love hearing the levity in their voices and the excitement when I tell them they are pre-qualified for that 'bigger' home they need now that they have a second child, or when I tell a younger single working woman what price range she can shop for and that YES, she can buy a home with her income alone!
This passion and 'loving my job' feeling I had all day is probably what gave me the energy to make all the calls from my database work this weekend!
