FLCA Board 2011 Election
Fulton Gaylord Mission Directive
As a Forest Lakes resident, homeowner, and local Realtor I am very concerned about the prevailing attitudes of our County Supervisors and area developers towards development.
I have sponsored several presentations from local builders and county development administrators in an effort to question the prevailing trends and how their aggressive growth plans directly affect our property values and community in Forest Lakes.
I do not want to live in a “disposable society” where I feel the need to move because unplanned and unbridled growth deteriorates the quality of life and sense of well-being.
We need to be wary of claims that more growth is what’s needed to positively impact our sluggish area economy.
We need to resist the temptation to lessen our requirements for proper pre-growth planning.
We need to stand strong on minimum standards of excellence and not allow developers to seduce us into loosening our codes, rules, and regulations for their benefit.
We should not cave in to these same developers who dangle a magic carrot and promise us paved shopping meccas.
I have witnessed the affect that this type of growth does to a community. It ravages the landscape, it weakens the supporting infrastructures, and, it ultimately dilutes our sense of community and plummets our property values lower.
I am not saying I favor zero growth. But with the current economic state, we need to question, and make accountable, those who want to build and grow around Forest Lakes without proper planning and instituted controls.
As one of your re-elected Board members, I will continue to do just that, in the coming year.
