Credit Suisse Monthly Survey of Real Estate Agents reporting for November 2010 -- and the survey says:  THUMBS DOWN!

The report started out with a little teaser:

"Traffic Inches Higher in November,"

which was good to read.  Then, when scrolling through the major markets, it's all thumbs down, pretty much.

Some highlights:

Atlanta, GA - "No local moves, only relocations."

Austin, TX -- "Agents say the market remains weak, but relocation buyers have helped."

Chicago, IL -- "Buyers are scared by dropping values."

Dallas, TX -- "More first time buyers helped traffic"

Houston, TX -- "Appraisals are on the low side"

Los Angeles, CA -- "A Malibu beach home appraised for less than land value."

Minneapolis, MN -- "Seasonal slow down coupled with lethargic buyers."

Orlando, FL -- "Lenders now want DNA."

Phoenix, AZ -- "Snowbirds are back."

Seattle, WA -- "Fewer buyers, no showings."

  • The Portland, OR market is covered on page 37.

I was going to comment on the same part as Karen...Malibu home less than the land???  I have to tell you that my business in 2010 was almost all relocation!  That is a sure thing, jobs do transfer people and they have to find a place to live.  Figuring out Relocation in 2011 is my Top priority and interacting with AR folks is the strategy for me on that.

Carla I missed this, thanks for sharings.  Here is hoping most of these trends will reverse in the new year.

I haven't seen too many under appraised values here "lately." I like how you added the article as you know for certain somebody would be demanding proof! lol.... hope you're doing well..
