Last evening, while pondering my zillions upon zillions of wonderful ideas for marketing, I switched on our local cable channel which features almost 24 hour Real Estate listings and agents.  As I settled in with my popcorn, I tried to watch from the eyes of a curious buyer.  Now, what caught my eye?  Agent after agent, listing after listing.  Which listings/agents had that "call to action"....which agent gave me a sense of---"I'd really like to work with him/her?"  One stood out FAR above the rest...she presented herself so professionally, yet so "someone I could sit with over coffee" that I almost wanted to buy a house from her! Her video presentation wasn't hokey or corney, but she also didn't just stand there and read a script either.

How many of you feel that these local Real Estate channels are worthwhile, from a marketing standpoint?  I would suppose that it depends quite a bit on the quality of each stations production etc.  But, from a general sense, I'd be curious to hear what the rest of you think on this!

Thanks!

Faith Larosse

I did real estate commercials with House values. I found them to be very disappointing. I thought I would at least generate listings but that was not the case

Visit http://therealestateshow.tv and visit Brunswick and the Golden Isles of Georgia. Not only is this channel on 24/7, it is accessible by the internet and lets me add individual links - see my profile.....Best of all it is about $200 monthly per ad.......

I have used them in the past and it has worked to obtain listings but the expense got to be tiresome.

Having been in media, I have some experience with radio and TV. The problem with most of the real estate channels is that they have such a small audience. Plus, the viewer cannot usually tune in to a specific area or home, but has to "sit and wait" through all the homes.

Faith, I always like to check out those channels when I visit other areas, but haven't had any exposure to one here. We have satelite tv, so there's no local channel for real estate there to watch. I wonder about the audience you would grab. I think you might be better served by a local magazine or other form of advertising. I'd be interested to hear about what you find out, if you care to share.

I feel so in the dark.  I never knew there were real estate channels.

Thanks everyone for your responses--it is very interesting to see how this type of marketing varys so greatly across the United States!

I used the local real estate chanell for years and can't remember a single buyer sale from it.  I used to keep paying for it as a listing tool.  I dropped it about 2 years ago and focused on internet marketing.  No seller complained.

Thanks for commenting on my post about Affirmations this morning.
