So the prior holiday season statistics were projecting that the holiday consumers were planning to avoid using their credit cards. And that spending would be less than last year due to falling economy and the wiser consumer avoiding the deferred payments with interest. As Black Friday has passed and the holiday spending is one week in consumers have shown their trend for the remaining weeks.
The Black Friday weekend statistics are showing shoppers are using credit cards for about 16% gift purchases. America's Research Group is saying that the nation's unofficial beginning of the holiday shopping season is down from 30.9 percent last year. But even with the current so called recession, Americans shied away from credit cards but spent more money. According to the National Retail Federation the average weekend's purchase total to $365.34 from $343.31 the year before and spending climbed to about $45 billion.
No matter what during these times of hardship holiday gifts must be bought. Think of it as either you're going to pay for it now or during marriage counsel or divorce court. (Marriage Counselor is projected to be one of 2011's well paying/recession proof profession. & America, the divorce rate in America for first marriage is 41% and increasing.) Ok, the last sentence was a joke... but I'm one of those people in the statistic and I like giving holiday gifts.
