Charlotte home sales drop 26%

The number of homes sold last month in the Charlotte market fell 25.7 percent from November 2009.

The Charlotte Regional Realtor Association says 1,487 homes sold last month in the region, down from 2,000 a year earlier. Closings were down 12.3 percent from October.

The average sales price rose 10.2 percent to $215,239 from $195,244 in November 2009.

The average price was up 6.1 percent from $202,840 in October.

Pending sales contracts last month totaled 1,448, a drop of 12 percent from 1,645 a year before and down 10.5 percent from October.

The statistics are culled from the organization's Carolina Multiple Listing Services Inc., which carries information on homes for sale in a 10-county area.
