If Pro-Wrestling Gets Any Worse, I'll Start Following Golf!

Forgive me for I know such a forum isn't the venue for such a rant.  Then again, anyone who knows me or has known me, reads me or has read me, knows that there is a bit of variety in what I've contributed over the years.  From Credit, to Interest Rates, to Politics, to Roasts, to "I'll just throw this out there because I had one too many shots of Cognac and I'm betting there's a few readers eastern standard time who can identify"... a diversity of topics is my cup of Earl Grey Tea.  No longer flavored with Vodka or Cognac, of course.

I've followed Pro-Wrestling since I was wearing Spider-Man underwear.  I still watch the stuff and wear the underwear.  Up until about twenty minutes ago.  There's a bit of me who likes not to evolve.

But I have evolved and believe it or not, I went to boxers not too long ago.  Spidey isn't on them, though if you look closely enough, you may find a silhouette of a GI Joe character tucked away near the taint area of coverage.  And as much as I comprehend the fact that pro-wrestling can be geared for children under the age of thirty-four, I wonder why they too, won't evolve.

Have you heard of the UFC?  I swear that if John Lennon were alive today he'd spit controversy in the saliva of truth once again and tell us that they (The UFC) are now more popular than Jesus.  Of course I don't think anybody or anything should be more popular than Mr. Christ, outside of maybe Glenn Beck.  However, despite having a plethora of amazing athletes at their disposal, the television those men and women have churned out since the "Austin Era" has been borderline unwatchable to even the most avid pro-wrestling fan, er, nut job.

Some of that may be due to losing a guy like The Rock, who was one of the most entertaining talkers the Industry ever heard speak.  And we lost a few to steroids and self-inflicted pill addiction.  We lost Flair & Hogan because they are just too egotistical for their own good and don't know how to do anything else.  Hell, Brock Lesnar was lost because of the travel schedule and ended up going to the said UFC and becoming its Heavyweight Champion!

And the UFC took advantage of that and every other marketing possibility under Geico's Green Earth.  They are real, legit, so that's a perk for them.  But they also add interest in their product beyond seeing someone getting a black eye or bloody nose.  Anticipation is built.  Pro-Wrestling used to do that for me.  And they used to do that for the public.  Yet, interest has faded faster than that silhouette of the GI Joe character near my left-butt cheek on those boxers I've evolved into.  Sure, there are those who will always think the trade as old as network news (equally as disturbing these days) is downright shameful, but at least we were popular.  Now it's like trying to make a case for fielding a Farmer's Market in a small town in Alaska with fresh fruit from Hawaii and wine from certain parts of Oregon.  A crowd of 3,000 may show up, but they also soon realize the fruit is from Miola, Pennsylvania and the wine is the last squeeze from Jim Morrison's liver.  The crowd fades away ...

Great athletes are not enough.   Intrigue folks and not with coffins, mis-placed versions of reality television, and sophomoric instances of back-alley quasi street fights.  Intrigue them by taking advantage of your greatest gift ... the athletes and wrestlers.  And make sure the writers are fans, smart ones.  If any stock holder in the WWE is reading this, I have ideasAnd I have ways to implement those ideas.  They aren't mentioned here because this is inherently a Real Estate Website and I'm just rambling.  While I enjoy my current employment, I can't sit back and watch a suspect passion of mine totally dilute itself and become more irrelevant than John Goodman's Bra Size.

I'll work the first eight weeks for free.  Hell, if I don't boost the ratings and long-term growth in such a span of time, I'll start following Golf.   I figure that's the only way I'm going to be following white balls around without doing an internship with CSPAN.

Jason... well, I am buying you a set off golf clubs then, soon... it's funny, I never cared for pro wrestling, but what kept me watching it up until HS was those that you named. It has become way to comcerial now, and it's bad enough that wrestling is fake... and don't get me wrong, you still have to be an extremely good athlete. But it has become non-enteraining to say the least. At least this is my opinion. The bottom line, I know things change and we have to go with the flow, but it has gone downhill. Anyhoo.. how have you been. ps.. dude, one more thing.. come on, you still wear the Spiderman underwear... I saw pictures in the new pro-wrestling magazine..

Jason, I couldn't even tell you who the current crop of WWE people are.  Since Sting, Hulk, The Rock and Steve Austin were the rage, I wandered off and haven't been back!  Bill

I wondered what happened to my Snake Eyes! This is seriously GOOD! They would be foolish not to take your offer, but then they ARE foolish, and that's the point. Still, you would rock their world and their ratings - even as you slipped out of mine.

Wrestlemania is coming to Atlanta. I thought about going, but then thought "Where are all the big names?". In order to be a fan, you've got to know and most importantly, care about the actors/wrestlers and their fates in order to get immersed in the product. There are a couple Divas I'd like to immerse myself in, but I digress.

What about some new twists? I mean the Nexus is no different than The Four Horsemen or NWO. The difference being that I couldn't care less about about a bunch of newbies. TLC? I remember those from the 80s. The product is stale...

Quality rant Jason.  I feel your pain.  I haven't been able to watch in years.  Without quality writing and the "bigger than life" personalities they had back in the day, it's just pathetic.  And even though the UFC may have taken off, I still think they may have hit their peak when Chuck and Tito were in their prime.

Jason, you can rehearse with your wrestling stars as much as you want...to make it look un-rehearsed, but you can't fake a good golf shot. It is real, and the guys that do it the best get paid for being good at it.

I guess everyone has been a wrestling fan at one time or another...  or should have been if they haven't.  Haven't watched it in years except out of curiousity when Dennis Rodman took to the ring!
