I work with a couple of the school orgnizations and am looking for new ideas for fundraising. I would appreciate any suggestions that are new and different. The teams are Football and wrestling. We have done the typical t-shirts, Joe Corbi Pizza, sponsorships but are looking for something exciting, new and different.

What have you done that works well for you?

My favorite was the local campaign that asked for a one time gift of $100 (or whatever the family could afford) and in return the school would NOT pimp the kids out to sell crap.  I'm all for that! =)

Thanks Leigh,

I wish it was that easy. It would never fly here. I had even suggested a pay for play per kid but they would not go for that.

I like the $100 idea - I'll even do it yearly to opt out!   My daughter informed me they had an assembly today and if I understood correctly it was on fundraising.  She announced she was going to sell 120 magazines so she could get a wifi.  Usually it is some sort of plastic toy you can buy at the dollar store but still.  Now, we don't have a whole lot of family/friends.  I just don't have the time/energy to help on this plus all the other school activites....

I know I didn't help, but presenting a case just to ask for the money!  Do it as a raffle.   Or as PBS, donate X amout and get ZZ etc... .  Incentive of prizes are still there yet more should go directly to the school than if a product was bought.

I guess I did like the gift wrap....

To motivate my young daughters, every summer I let them paint, craft or beed something that they can sell mostly to friends and some friends of friends to buy extra things they want and/or to go to a summer camp they really want to attend.

This way they build the drive to be creative and work hard and are able to see the reward. Now it has become sort-of-a tradition for us to have a big sale at the end of the summer. Friends and family come every year just to see what my girls have thought of the current year.

But what about letting the teams be creative and have an art show, (or what their passions are) where people know they just coming to buy paintings and little things and/or to just support the kids but receive something in return.

I borrowed this idea from my son's football team. We only did part of it, but the whole thing would work for your purposes. They do a lift-a-thon at the beginning of every year. The boys come to school with 10 or 20 (can't remember) pre-addressed envelopes to family and friends. The stuff the envelopes with letters requesting pledges for the lift-a-thon. Your school's coaches can probably come up with the specifics in that area.

As a cheer program director, we just sent letters to our SOI (haha!) telling them the teams had made it to Nationals and how much it would cost. We asked for donations of $25 or more. Most of the girls received more than enough money to cover the cost of hotel, travel, and entry fees.
