There was word that the Lenders were supposed to help these homeowners out, most of the attitudes are not really that much help. It will take a congressional act to impose the standards that need to be complied with by the lenders.

One of the real problems is that the lenders are not always the same ones that did the loan. They bought these loans at a discount and do not have the the same vested interest that the original lender might have had.

William...I met the legal advisor for New Hampshire Housing at our Membership meeting today. This organization is very pro-active when it comes to NH home owners. They are affering help and direction for free to any who call...this will at least give customers some ammunition and guidance through a messy, messy maze!

Joan, I'm sorry to say I didn't know a few of those things on your list...and guess I had better learn.  Although I have heard the term "Predatory Lending" I didn't until just now realize what that was.  Thank you for you information, it's always valuable.

Well, Joan- better late than never, right?  It's too bad that the predatory lending pamphlet wasn't around when the need for it was critical, but at least people now have a place to go that acknowledges that yup, there were some verrrry gray areas.  Your buyers and sellers are lucky that you take the time to offer solutions- they're out there, if people can just hang on.  Great post!
