The greatest gift of all!

As we find ourselves deep into the holiday season, we hear many stories of people less fortunate than some. So many worthy causes to give our time, money or even resourses to. Toys here, food there, money anywhere! But this is a story that I heard about, and then researched to get a few more details, and now I want to share the story with you. It's about giving the gift of love.

Terry and his wife (I am going to call them Mr & Mrs T) were entering the "empty nester" stage of life. Their children were grown and leaving home so they had started down sizing. They were a very religious couple who attended a church of their faith regularly.

There were two other families that also attended the same church. Both families opened their homes and hearts to children in need by providing foster care. One of the families had recently taken in a daughter that was 5 months. The other family had been asked to take a girl that was a little older, a toddler that was 18 months.

Both of these two little girls attended the same day care (to be honest I'm not sure if the day care was the one at the church or outside the church). It was because of the consistent reference of the 18 month old pointing and calling  the 5 month old "sissy" that the two foster parents found out they were, in fact, sisters who had been taken from their home at the same time. When processed through the system, they had been separated, each foster family unaware of the other child.

When Mr and Mrs T heard the story, they decided the two babies needed someone to get their young lives back on the right track and immediately started adoption procedures for both girls. They were expecting to receive these great gifts of love in January or February, but it turns out they will probably arrive just before Christmas.

Thank you, Mr and Mrs T, for giving these two girls the gift of love. You are truly an inspiration to us all!

We are joining in with a group to help by donating any gently used clothing or articles that might help this family prepare for their new arrivals. If you are interested in donating, or know someone that might be, please contact Jason Keith.

That is sooooo sweet, and to think that the older "baby" recognized her younger sister.  They could not have spent that much time together!  Fantastic story, I hope it has a truly beautiful ending.

Garrigus Real Estate, A truly heart warming story. Thanks for taking the time to read and comment!

Kathy, Amazing, isn't it? At only 18 mos... and what is another miracle is that there were adults around that listened to her and took her seriously!

What a great story, Ruth.  What a coincidence, and what a lovely thing for Mr. & Mrs. T. to have done.

Ruth, this is an awesome story.  I call it a GODincidence, not a coincidence at all.  And I agree, thankfully the ADULTS were wise enough to listen and know the 18month old knew what and of Whom she was talking about. Merry Christmas to all in this story!!

Vickie, I so agree.

Jane, whether they had room in their house wasn't as important as having room in their hearts, wasn't it?

Mary, And you know what? As they grow older, they will still fight with each other, I bet!

Donna, Thanks for ALLOWING me to post this to your blog!
