Have you ever had something good happen to you and you were so distracted that you failed to notice? This came to mind today as I sat at a meeting this morning. Towards the end of the meeting there was a raffle. A thousand dollars was at stake here and everyone quickly gathered their raffle tickets in hand. As they shouted the numbers out, there was sheer quiet throughout the room. They continued to shout the winning numbers a few times but no one claimed their prize. So on it went to the next number. As the next lucky winner came forward to claim their prize, I heard a familiar voice behind me whisper to her friend...”Oh no, I think I won the first time.” She looked a little disappointed as she realized that her win was short lived. The meeting ended and as she sat there in her chair looking disillusioned, I reached over and told her that her lucky streak had just begun and she just needs to keep her eyes open for the next opportunity.
I’ve been thinking about it ever since. How often have we been so focused on other things that we totally miss an opportunity? Life is too short for regrets about the opportunities missed. However, opportunities are right in front of us each and every day. Stop and pay close attention. You don’t want to miss yours.

Thank You Eric for the inspiration and the reminder about how lucky each of us is.
It does not have to be a thousand dollars win, but it wouldn't hurt either.
Cheers
