Several weeks ago, I got a beautifully written letter from a Franklin Lakes' Boy Scout, Colin Knight, asking me if I would consider contributing to his Eagle Scout Project --- a facelift for the Lorrimer (Wildlife) Sanctuary. It seems money hasn't been available for repairs and maintenance, and the front of the building was looking sad.

I took my kids to what we used to call "The Audobon Society," so I have a lot of fond memories of school trips, hikes, lectures and bird seed purchases (their products were better than most, and the prices were fair). AND, I was very impressed with the scope of the project this teenager planned, not to mention how articulate he was in his letter.

I just got a lovely note from Colin letting me know that my contribution helped "with the cleared out garden, freshly painted door, and the redone patio...and the President of the Audobon Society called to say that I had done an amazing job, and really made the building look brand new."  Colin thanked me for my donation, and I want to thank Colin for taking the time to care about a real Franklin Lakes' treasure.
