Sanford NC Movie Theater: Spring Lane Cinemas When we first moved to Sanford several years ago, the only movie theater in town, Kendale Cinemas, was straight out of the 1970s. It only had two screens and was not very modern. When we wanted to see a movie we would drive up to Cary, see the movie, and then drive back. Cary isn't that far away but we were glad when a new theater opened in town.Spring Lane Cinemas is on the west side of town near Riverbirch Shopping Center and several restaurants. This new theater offers 10 movie screens, stadium seating, and digital surround sound. They normally offer a good choice of movies and you can be sure that the new blockbuster, whatever it is, will be playing.

The concession stand offers the old favorites - candy, popcorn, and soda. They also offer pizza, nachos, soft pretzels, gourmet coffee, icees, hamburgers, hot dogs, dippin' dots ice cream, and lots of other good stuff. We don't drive to Cary for the movies anymore!

Hi Rita,

How nice for you and the folks in Sanford. Don't you just love that stadium seating, what a difference!

Chris,

We were very glad to get this theater in town.  It took a while to get a theater here because a lot of the major theater operators thought our town was too small.  The parking lot always has a lot of cars and a major theater operator recently bought it from the original developer.

Lynda,

The news seats are very comfortable - they even recline a bit.  Sanford is starting to see some retail development - I just hope the development is done in a way to preserve some of our small town character.

Rita - What a difference - two versus 10 screens. I love the stadium seating - we have a theatre here which has four full feet in between rows. Almost could get a nap in if you happen to get a bad movie:)

Paula,

The 10 screens means there is usually something playing for almost everyone.  The other big upgrade was the sound - the new theater has a great sound system.

Thesa,

We used to have a 30-40 mile drive ourselves.  We usually just waited until we could rent the movie.  You would love the snack bar at this theater - they have all kinds of great choices.  An interesting thing about this theater is when they started developing the site they ran into a bunch of native brownstone rock.  I heard someone say it delayed the theater for a couple of years.

Mana,

I am not a coffee drinker but have never seen that at another movie theater.  This theater has also become a popular birthday party spot here in Sanford.

Rita, don't you just love having the accessiblity of a good movie theatre.  Sanford must really be growing.

We have a new theatre being built in Tomball although it seems like it is a taking a long time.  At the moment our only option is the Woodlands but with the one in Tomball we will be right smack between the two.

Rita,  Spring Lane Cinemas sounds like a happenin' place in Sanford.  Sounds like it has stuff for both kids and adults!  I remember when we had my daughter's birthday at a movie theatre...good times.  :)

Teri,

This theater has great stadium seating - the chairs are very comfortable.

Marchel,

It is nice to have this theater nearby - ours took several years to build due to some unforseen issues with the land it was built on.

Stephanie,

It is one of the nicer places to go in town.  A developer is talking about building a sports complex in town - that would be another great option for the local kids when it gets completed.

I keep thinking I am going to the movies and I just never make it. I was out for supper on a Friday night that was raining and the movie theater was right there and we chose to go home. Go figure oh well, I hope others enjoy the movies.
