Not wearing my glasses when checking my email... NOT a good idea.
I nearly deleted an important email this morning thinking it was spam.
The subject line read: You are now a member of the Be The Match Registry
Well the first thing that popped into my head was that I didn't register for any stupid dating site. I'm head over heals in love with my husband.
But upon further investigation.... it's from the service where I've signed up to be a bone marrow doner. I wrote about this a few weeks ago and many of you said it was NOT something you could do.
So I thought I'd give you an alternative to donating your marrow and a chance to still save a life....
You certainly can do these two things...
- Spread the word about how easy and important it is to join the Be The Match Registry: http://registry.marrow.org/site/Ecard?ecard_id=1041
- Make a financial gift - Your gift helps grow the registry, provide patient assistance and advance medical discovery to help patients live longer, healthier lives: http://marrow.convio.net/site/PageNavigator/Donation_home.
You can post to your own blog to spread the word. Or cut and past the site info and email it to your SOI.
or
You can make a fincial gift, that could also potentially save a life.
I haven't donated blood in a while. I need to pay more attention to when the next drive comes to town. But I am a proud owner of my 8 gallon pin from the Red Cross and the other day I saw on the Macon News where a central Georgia woman and flown some where in the New England area to donate marrow. She was so excited she got to save a life. Maybe I'll have that chance too.
