Sometimes I miss the excitement of little children and the wonderment in their eyes at the sights and sounds of Christmas. Our children grow up so quickly and photos are a method of preserving those special moments in time for us to enjoy forever.
This photo is one of my favorites and very special to me because it truly captures my children in time when my daughter was 2 years old and my son was 4 years old. If you have ever tried to dress young children and have them sit still for a photo you know this is not an easy task! It is very difficult to get them both to look at the camera and smile.
When my children were small I used to sew and would make special outfits for them. Curtis usually got cheated because I was usually constructing dresses for Melinda however on Christmas I would always make him a sweatshirt! In this photo Melinda is wearing a red dress and white pinafore I made and Curtis has on a red sweatsuit I made. I remember how much he loved it because the Christmas tree design was made of green fur and I attached colored jingle bells for the decorations!
Our family usually sends out a picture Christmas card and has been doing so for many years. I chose to use this photo as our 1988 Christmas card showing the children's excitement in their eyes and smiles which are twinkling season.
I keep this photo in a frame and set it out every Christmas. It brings me happy memories and I also still have the outfits they are wearing in this photo!
My children are now 24 and 26 but I will always see them as they appear in this photo where their innocence and excitement are preserved. Even now they still have beautiful smiles. I love you Curtis and Melinda!
