Myrtle Beach September 2010

This is a poignant and special picture for me and his family as it is one of the last pictures and wonderful memories of my beloved hubby Marvin.  He passed away on the morning of October 22 of this year of a massive heart attack at the age of 82.

I snapped this picture on October 1 in North Myrtle Beach, SC.  This was our last evening in the condo and this grouping is of Marvin on the left, his two sisters and the baby brother.  Next, pictures were taken of the siblings wives and husbands.

For over 15 years (we lost count) the Nett siblings, husbands and wives, have spent a week together in the fall to visit and catch up.  They drive from Wisconsin and Iowa to here in Hendersonville NC and than we head to the beach.  The week together was never missed even though on 2 occasions participants had to miss out.  Once because Marvin had to have emergency open heart surgery and another year when a siblings hubby had a medical issue on the way and had to return home.  Most times this week was spent at Myrtle Beach but there have been 2 times when we visited a lake area, but the beach always pulled us back.  For years we rented the same house directly on the beach which we loved but didn't love the steps as we aged for toting stuff up and down.

This year I was in charge of the arrangements and coordination of dates.  It was decided to go earlier than normal.  Normal had been the end of October.  This year it was agreed to go the end of September.  I made arrangements for a condo in North Myrtle Beach.  We arrived in bright sunshine and 70's.  Than it rained every day.  The condo was gorgeous with five bedrooms, five baths, great balcony, games, TV's, puzzels so we had plenty to do and quality time was spent with each other.  We didn't mind the rain and had a very special week together which we weren't aware of at the time and will always remember and cherish.  When we left on Saturday morning the sun was once again shining.  A truly special Kodak remembrance.

Thank you all for your comments.  AR, our 2 canine Kids and Robin's business has been very beneficial in helping get me up and about.  Willie and Winnie took Marvin's leaving very hard and if I ever had any doubts, I now know dogs do mourn.  The Kodak Contest was especially helpful as I'd just been reading Posts and leaving comments.  The contest made me totally face the loss by writing about it and being glad the family shared that time together and that he didn't suffer a dibilitating illness like so many have.
