For those of you who like to bake for Christmas, I will be posting some different cookie recipes for you to try.
Amish Sugar Cookies
From the kitchen of Joseph & Michelle Salerno
Ingredients
1 cup sugar
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup butter or margarine
1 cup cooking oil
2 eggs
4 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 teaspoon vanilla
Directions
Combine sugars, butter and oil, beat well. Add eggs and mix well. Add flour, baking powder, baking soda, cream of tartar and vanilla. Cover with plastic wrap and put in the refrigerator overnight. Make into small balls and flatten slightly with a fork. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Do not over cook.
Yummy Yummy Peanut Butter Blossoms
Makes 7 dozen • From the kitchen of Linda Ancona
Ingredients
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1 cup butter or margarine
1 cup creamy peanut butter
2 eggs
1/4 cup milk
2 teaspoons vanilla
3 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 (6 1/2 ounce) packages chocolate kisses
Directions
Cream sugar, brown sugar, butter and peanut butter. Beat in egg, milk and vanilla. In a separate bowl, stir together flour, baking soda and salt. Stir into egg mixture. Shape into balls and roll in additional granulated sugar. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes . Immediately press kisses into cookies.
