Effortless entertaining
Here are good tips for entertaining whether it is for 4 or 40 or 400. Check out the math on how to plan for food and drinks. This is a good recipe for success at any party. On of the keys is to have fun yourself and your guests will too.
Throwing a fabulous holiday party can be a snap when you take a simple approach and utilize some proper planning for serving food and drinks.
1. Food planning is as simple as doing the math. For cocktail parties with heavy hors d'oeuvres, plan 8-10 different items and 10 items per person. You will need one person passing food for each 25 guests. If you plan a buffet, you can hire one person to keep the buffet filled and flowing for each 50 people.
2. When it comes to drinks, your best bet is to stick with beer and wine. You may be able to skip a bartender altogether and you do not have to worry about ice. Buy high quality screw top wines. Plan on each guest having 2 drinks in the 1st hour and 1 drink per hour after the 1st hour. Wine is usually 70-80% of the drinks poured so buy less beer than wine.
3. Keep things simple and you will be able to relax and enjoy your party with the guests. Your guests will surely appreciate this more than food and the drinks.
Happy Holidays!
