We have been having some cold weather here in the Oswego, IL area. Luckily we did not get as much snow as our neighbors to the north but we have bone chilling cold and winds bringing the temperature to single digits.
I was on my way to my mailbox which is at the end of the driveway - mailing an earnest money check to the seller's attorney since my brokerage does not hold earnest money and before I knew it I was down on my tush!
It happened so fast that I did not even have a chance to think. Unfortunately, my left hand landed first and took the most of the impact after my tush. I got up quickly and tried brushing it off but I knew something was wrong.
I had been off to my health club for a workout but I knew I had no choice but to go to my local medical clinic.
Long story short...I have a bad sprain on my wrist. They don't think anything is broken but will let me know after the radiologist takes a second look. Living by myself and not willing to drive too far I had to figure out a way to ice the wrist, keep it elevated and get the swelling down.
Well I found a couple of things and deviced an icepack from a wine chiller sleeve that I had picked up this summer and kept in the freezer and a small ice pack to put in coolers. It's not pretty but it keeps the ice on my wrist and the poultice I made from crushed aloe leaves secure. Aloe helps to keep the swelling down according to my natural health book. Hope that works.
I would have rather used the wine chiller wrap for a good merlot but hey you have to get creative sometimes!
This has slowed me down to say the least and it will take 4-6 weeks for the sprain to heal. So a word of caution...be careful where you step during this winter weather. When you least expect it life will throw you a curve ball but just get up and throw it back and keep going!
