Serendipity - Letter from Santa leads to Christmas reunion

On the chance that you know a child who is about to "outgrow Santa", I want to share a sweet letter that the children and then the grandchildren of a friend of mine received from Santa over the years.   I shared it with some friends last year and got an unexpected serendipity - well, serendipities are always unexpected, and I'm delighted they keep happening.

A dear friend gave me permission to share a letter that Santa sent to the young ones in her family as they were growing up.   One of the people I shared it with emailed to me, wondering if Betty could by any chance be her old friend who had had a baby in 1959 the neighbor she had her baby.   She lives near me and is on my neighborhood email list.   This put those old friends back in touch with each other, and I incidentally had the opportunity to help one of them with a real estate need this year.

HERE'S THE NOTE THAT STARTED THE SERENDIPITY:

Dear Friends,

I hope your family has a wonderful Christmas and that in the new year you will be blessed with health, contentment, and every good thing.

My friend, Betty H, has given me permission to share with you a letter that Santa Claus wrote to her children, or maybe her grandchildren, a long time ago.

Best wishes,

Mary Sheridan

THE LETTER FROM "SANTA"     (Do you know someone who might want to use it?)

Dear Children,

We have known each other for quite some time now and these years have been great for both of us.   But as they say, "all good things must come to an end" and "when I become a man I put away childish ways."

Although you have grown away from me as you grew older, you will never be out of my heart and I will keep all the sweet memories that I have of you as you have grown up.   I hope only the best for each of you as you begin to make important decisions that will influence the rest of your life.

Remember, I am always and ever, and even though we have come to a parting of the ways for a while, you will probably have a family and then we will meet again.

I have been a part of the wonderful time in your life, the exciting, the fantasy, the wonder, and the imagination.   Please never lose the ability to have these as a part of your life and add to these love and compassion for all and you will go far in anything you  undertake.

It is with a little sadness and a lot of joy in memories that I now say good-bye to this phase in your lives.

                                                  I love you all,

                                                  Santa Claus
