A Back Yard Family Get Together Was My "Kodak Moment"

This photo was taken in the summer of 1998 at a family get together at my house in Prospect Heights, Illinois.  The day was warm with few clouds in the sky.  Which worked out great for everyone because of the busy lives we all lead it’s not always easy getting family together and when it happens that the stars align and you’re living right, schedules sync and the family gets together…it works out even better when mother nature cooperates.

I have a trunk load of old photos that might have been more touching and personal, but I chose this one because it reminded me of when I was the age of my nephew’s and niece’s with no responsibility and the world was a huge playground.  All sorts of new experiences, playing hard taking a breather then back at it playing harder than before.  There were spills, scrapes and bruises the occasional spat that quickly got worked out, bikes to ride, firecrackers to light and trees to climb, snakes and frogs to catch and bee’s to be stung by…It was all ahead of me as it’s all ahead them in this photo.  This was one of those rare moments when we could corral them into one spot for about 30 seconds.  This is my “ Kodak Moment” that I like to remember.

Nick...Love it!  A perfect example of 'family memories' would love to see just how these little ones have changed in the following years.  that would be a fun photo.
Have a great rest of the week.

Nick ~ This is a great Kodak moment picture.  Looks like they were having fun that day and it was probably hard to get them to sit still.

Nick what a great memory you have to be able to remember that far back ........... LOL

Seriously, there are times that I wish I could return back to those times where life was simple, and as you put it "no responsibility and the world was a huge playground"

Nick ~ what a great age for kids, carefree, no stress and only have to decide on what kind of fun they are going to have that day.

Robin-when you're a kid the energy just flows naturally.

Toni & Darcy-yep!

Debra-yes I know you and Bees.

Craig-you're right about the judging.  I've read some outstanding posts and I believe yours was one of them...Laura is a beautiful young girl!

Barb & Sal-they've actually turned out to be good kids with a lot of character.

June-it was a fun day and yes...kids only slow down to eat and then off again.

George-actually I don't remember it, but people keep telling me it happened!  I think there is something very profound in what you say...the burden of responsibility can wear you down...maybe we should all try being kids longer?

Gary-that tree did lose some bark that day.

Patricia-there were a couple more trees like that in my yard...one of my greatest pleasures is climbing trees (my trees) to prune them and watch them take shape over the years.

Dawn-hmmm, I wonder if we could do sort of a "be a kid" post...something fun and devoid of any stress?
