Looking a little backward and then looking more forward is one of my favorite New Year activities. It helps me to put a context of the past into the adventure of the future. I’d like to share a little about one of my “discoveries” of 2010 and one of my losses for 2011.
Revolucion 1910 is a wonderful “Mexican” restaurant in Lodi, California that finds its menu origins in the more European-style of the Spanish Empire of centuries ago. From the “beans of the day” to the mild cilantro seeped rice the food at Revolucion 1910 is an evolving treat. The crisp and light “chips” are paired with pureed salsa – based on the chili and the whim of the kitchen. The flavor changes with each visit … and never disappoints.
The art and the environment keep pace with the “refined” feeling of the cuisine and atmosphere. So the staff and I have found this restaurant to be one of our favorite places. So we were unhappy to learn that our host and friend Javier has been invited to relocate his restaurant to Lincoln Center in Stockton. While we wish him the very best Revolucion 1910 will be closing in Lodi in January 2011 and we thought we’d have to try and find another “favorite!” Sometimes circumstances solve your problems before you do. Finishing the year on 12/31 lunch, Javier confirmed with us – that he will be having another “projecto” opening in the current facilities. The new venture “Del Castille” – already has a fan base and the menu is still unfinished!
For those folks who frequent Lincoln Center in Stockton – you folks are getting a truly inspired dining experience. For those of us remaining in Lodi….the future holds a promise of more good things!
