A Charity Moment....

 I wanted to share a moment with you.  Thursday morning at our Tracy Realtor Marketing meeting was our day as REALTORS to GIVE BACK.  We have raised money all year to make very special presentations to some of our favorite charities.

We raised over $6500 to give to these charities.  One of the poignant moments is highlight below.  In the upcoming weeks I'm going to high light these different Charities, because there are FABULOUS and WORTHWHILE. 

Gene Birk the previous director of Brighter Christmas for 31 years came to see us.   He gave stats that were “jaw dropping”.  First, Brighter Christmas is an organization that has been around for 31 years that assists families in need during the holidays. Each family needs to go through a screening for need. Once the family qualifies, arrangements are made to get that family food and toys for their children. 

Mr. Birk shared that this year in Tracy alone….… there are 900 families and 1900 children that have come forward to request assistance. Mr. Birk shared that the Angel Tree at the mall has only had 500 requests fulfilled so far, usually by this time of the season over 1000 requestes have been filled.  He has not received the donations from the larger companies such as Heinz, etc.   With the present economy and market, all donations are low. He is a very dedicated and emotional gentleman. It is quite eye opening to see a grown man cry because of the fact of a child not having a toy at the holiday. Gene Birk is so passionate about making sure every child has toy at Christmas and every family has food.  

I was thrilled to know that Brighter Christmas and Tracy Interfaith work very closely together to make sure people get what they need.

Just as a quick side not - The Tracy Realtor Marketing Council, through year long fund raising also gave money to:  Get Real Behind the Wheel, Tracy Care Givers, Tracy Relay For Life,  Tracy Pregnancy Resource Center, Boys and Girls Club, Tracy Military Moms as well as Tracy Interfaith and Brighter Christmas.
