This is the sad story of the Bluebird of Happiness and the Orange Man.
Vilano Beach in St. Johns County, Florida has its Bluebird of Happiness that will soon be placed on the Vilano Beach Fishing Pier for wonderful picture opportunities with the sun setting over the Intracoastal and our nation's oldest city, St. Augustine, Florida as the backdrop. The Bluebird has recently had a complete make-over and is looking better than she has in decades. She couldn't wait for her meet up with the Orange Man.
Vilano's Bluebird and the Orange Man of Flagler County have had a, shall we say, "thing" for each other for about 5 years. We had great hopes of finally getting them together.
But, alas, the dream has died. Literally. Sallie O'Hara, Program Administrator for Friends of A1A recently announced the demise of the Orange Man. No one has told the Bluebird of Happiness yet as we wish her to remain happy, especially over the holidays.
A developer foreclosed on the property that housed the Orange Man and then, without warning, destroyed the Bluebird of Happiness' beau. Another sad foreclosure story, but this one crosses county lines. Rest in peace. Orange Man. We miss you.
