You are building an online presence, do you know why you are losing readers?

One of the biggest frustrations people have when trying to find their online voice is first coming up with things to post about, and second is getting people to read what they have posted about. Does this sound like you? Well, there isn’t a person who is online who isn’t struggling with this no matter how many followers they have, plus most people are worried why they lost that one.

Don't lose readers online. (Qwitter)

Here in the rain it is easy to track why we lose readers as we are only posting once or twice a day and if someone reads a post then you lose a subscriber, then you know that certainly wasn’t the article for them. But, what about your Twitter followers, do you know why they are unsubscribing?

This is where today’s freebie that I found can help you. It is called Qwitter and can be found at www.Qwitter.com. This free service tracks exactly what you posted that made that person read the tweet and click unsubscribe. If you write one thing that gets 5 people to unsubscribe, then clearly that is a topic you want to stay away from in the future.

So, find out what your readers are thinking, build your online network and keep up with your online reputation. We are out there to get business and if no one is reading, then no one is thinking about sending you business. Follow me on Twitter, would love to see how you are doing with your online presense.

I'm with Cynthia... incessant volume turns me off, especially when they're pushing... also tone, when they try to sound like they know you and they don't, or when they are just too "expert" and tell you what you should do...

Thanks for sharing this cool little tool, it'll be fun to see what results I get...

That sounds like a pretty neat tool.

I'd say that you should just be real and forget about it.  Be who you are. Write what you feel and let your followers sort themselves out.  Unless you want to pretend to be something else in order to get business.  But I think you can still gain a lot of business by being transparent, unless you're a really evil person.  Then you might want to pretend to be a good guy.

Transparency - what a unique word - many people promise it - few actually incorporate it in their lives and business -

I used to use Qwitter many moons ago, until it stopped working. Then I started using TwitDiff, which does the same thing far more reliably than Qwitter did. In fact, TwitDiff's home page still carries the admonition,

"Tried Qwitter only to discover it's clearly broken? Fear not, for TwitDiff is here!"

In addition, TwitDiff also states, "Pinpointing messages that caused unfollows will never be supported, since it is impossible to reliably infer this information."

This is logical since Qwitter has no way of knowing if the last tweet you sent was the catalyst for someone to stop following you, they just tell you what that tweet was. The person may simply have been paring down his follow list, and in fact might not have even read the tweet in question. Plus, getting to see that tweet is a premium service; it'll cost you $4.99 a year to see it, it's not part of their free service.

Anyway, if Qwitter doesn't work for you or you just don't like it, TwitDiff is a reliable alternative.

Todd,

I know you probably hear this often.. I have twitter account but I don't use it that much...  I've never really gotten into it.  I've tried and it seems so foreign..

I keep going back to it and trying but I'm not a moment by moment post it kind of person..

Apparently I am the only person who finds it creepy that someone wants to track who unfollows you.  I mean seriously?  Who cares?  Not everyone will like you, and that is fine.

I unfollowed someone on twitter who used one of these services and then they asked me on twitter why I unfollowed them...in public.  Sorry people.  Creepy and it sounds like you have an ego problem when you do things like this.

I'm in agreement with Tim.  Be yourself unless you are totally evil, then you should probably get out of real estate.

Interesting stuff. I will have to check it out. I
wonder how accurate it may be. Once a week I go in and unfollow people who have
not followed me back or have not been of value to me. I wonder if a service like
this takes that into consideration, otherwise it may assume I unfollowed those
people due to the last thing they said and that would be wrong.

Once again a great post. There is always something to learn here and such an atmosphere of sharing. This place is better than any class I have ever traveled 200 miles to attend!

Oh, why don't they read my posts? Because I'm a lousy writer. Any suggestions on writing courses online?
