There is Always One in the Group ...... And Sometimes That One is Me

Services for Real Estate Pros with Personal SEO - Website SEO and Real Estate Marketing

There is alwacriticize your commentors and blogsys one in the group and sometime that one is me.

Only being on ActiveRain for a couple months now, the shiny has rubbed off and I am left to face the reality of how people really are. After posting a few good blogs and being featured a few times I learned that living in the spotlight will have it's fair share of nay-sayers.

Of course, if you write about something for so long there will be those that sit up and start to notice you. Some (most I will happily say) have left positive comments that make my ego boost, but there are those that write rebuttals to a topic and make me feel the size of a pea.

If you have been on AR for any length of time and have voiced your opinion or blogged about your area of expertise you will have no doubt experienced it to;  those comments that criticize, condemn or otherwise contradict what you are trying to get across.

My first week on AR I was trying to figure it all out and noticed a featured blog of 2 simple listings. No real content or "meat" to the blog. I asked, ever so politely, why this happened to be featured. I apologized all over myself for seeming rude, but just really wanted to know.  They came back and said they didn't know why it got featured and I had someone leave a more strongly worded comment to the same tone as mine.

Since them, I too have seen the gamut of blogs and am becoming a little more brazen. Grantedsinging the praises of bloggers and comments, I never want to be rude to anyone, but I have found myself to be the one in the group questioning the writers comments while the majority sing the praises.

I felt it a relief to learn of that little "delete" Button on comments. I have noticed one of my subscribers mentioned that she had deleted a comment because it was rude.  Oh the power. This is a place for opinions, strong as they may be, but also fair play. If there is an opposing comment I will by all means tackle to the best of my ability as I did with comments on "Where to find Free Pictures". I felt I was straightforward and honest. I accept your voice on my blog, welcome it and will respond but will combat any negativity with as much honest information as I can.

I have done SEO marketing for almost 10 years, and although this is not decades as some (wait, has this been a business for that long?) I do know my stuff. I have proven results and research all avenues of algorithms and changes to keep up with my growing database of clients and the information.

Thanks for reading and Merry Christmas! Have a Productive Day!

I remember the first time I received overly negative comments on a post. It sure felt like I was personally attacked. It took a few days to get over it enough to repost. Few hundred posts later I have learned to roll with the punches. Happy Holidays Tammy.

Everyone has an opinion, unfortunately some voice them to hurt others.  Glad you have pushed through that.  Merry Christmas.

I too have only been on AR for a short time.  I have been lucky so far not to have any negative comments, but my content hasn't been too mindblowing either.  I am just getting into the swing of things, but it is nice to know that there is a "delete" button.  Thanks for the info.

Opinions are like...  well...  you know, and everybody has one.  I have found that people in this business seem to have STRONG opinions and love to share them.  I recently posted a blog about being successful in what most percieve to be a "down" market and got RIPPED by somebody telling me that my blog is spreading bad news and hurting thing more than I was helping them.  Yeah...  that got deleted.

Good one Tammy.  Speaking up is important - otherwise the discussion is bland and boring.  But civility and courtesy are equally so.  Stacey Smith did a blog the other day closely related to this - all about those who fall to low levels of discourse instead of taking a higher road.

Tammy: This is an important Blog. Not just for Newbies like us, but for bloggers in general. We are like journalsts in a sense, and so we get to express our opinion, hopefully without being rude. Sometimes we end up ruffling a few feathers and that's OK. We want and need reactions. It's not the reaction so much that bothers me, as it is what we do with the reaction. Sometimes it provides an opportunity for good clean debate, and maybe a chance to change someones view on things, maybe even my own. If however things get TOXIC, give it an honest try, delete and move on.

Your honesty is refreshing... keep asking those questions.

Randy - Yes, that is something that you need to do on here. There will always be those that only wish to attack... gotta move on.

Nor- Thank you Nor. I appreciate it!

Maggie - HA... no kidding! I sure am trying to be myself... and if anyone doesn't like it, tough. ;-)

Sarah - Thank you! I am still trying although this blog was a little defensive. HA! Merry Christmas!

Pamela - Yes, I just had someone ask me about that the other day... he said "There's a DELETE button!?!?" Ha, yes, but don't get carried away, Google loves the dialog. Thanks for the comment :)

Christiansens - Glad you deleted it. It's your opinion and I don't think one blog is going to change the way everyone thinks about a subject. We are free to have our voice.

Vance - Your comment made me think of this blog the other day that an ambassador wrote about linking to other things in your comment. I actually don't mind it at all!!!! :) He thought it was tacky and rude but I am thankful you linked this blog here! I will OPEN IN A NEW WINDOW and check it out. You are right on here Vance, THANK YOU! :)

Rita - Thank you for your comment. I do agree, a good clean fight is always fun to watch... maybe not so fun to be on the receiving end though.. ha... One of my friends posted something that got the commentors throwing darts at each other... The writer just stepped back and stopped responding because they were all very attacking. Time to delete and move on. THANK YOU!!! And Merry Christmas!! Thanks for the comments folks! I truly appreciate it!

Thanks for being true to yourself. YOu know what you know and that's what you write about. You can't focus on all the negative or you will drive yourself crazy.

Tammy, I've been reading your blogs, they seem informative and written in a language I can understand. Often I'm lost with tech blogs.  Active Rain is an informative tool, I do learn alot. However, there are blogs I read that sometimes may be overly strong: but everyone has a right to their opinion. My motto is "have nothing nice to say-say nothing".
