Everything takes longer....

I was lying in bed this morning thinking about all the things that need to get done.  I have a website to set up for my Anguilla property that is a challenge to me because I am not a programmer, I am a content development guy.  These are two different people.  I have all my own agent work to get done, the 20 calls, the promos, the goals and objectives.  I have family things that need to get done, hey, it is the holidays and they are supposed to be fun.  And they are.  I just needed to stop for a moment and remember that. Things take time and I have to allow that time.

We live in an era of instantaneous and everyone wants everything right now.  While I like the immediacy of the internet and our go-go world I think we are all suffering from the false belief that things, all things, can happen immediately. That is just not true.  I was speaking with my friend Robert about his Anguilla property and my snag with the website development.  No, I can't just throw this up there and it doesn't matter that they have a "how to" video to help you through the process.  Because I don't think like a programmer it is taking longer.  He was saying that he had a conversation with his wife about being behind a couple of days on all the work he needs to get done.  He has spent more money with less results this year than at any other point in his illustrious career.  I get it, things take time and are much slower.  Why is it we have difficulty embracing that fact?

Take a moment today to think about all the good that you have done this year.  Think about all the great relationships that you have developed. Think of the families you have assisted through an arduous process of buying and selling a home.  Be grateful for your health and your ability to put food on the table.  Hug your family and let them know it is because of them that you get up and strap it on each day.  I think this new economy we are living in gives us time to think about what is important, but the speed with which we go through all the activities and tasks in our days is stripping us of the ability to truly see the wonder in life.  I know I am guilty of this.

I want to thank all the people here on Active Rain for being supportive and instructive as I embrace these new skills.  There are several of you who have reached out and keep me going when the going was the roughest.  I, in turn, have done the same for others.  I am excited about this year and looking forward the next, but I just wanted to take these few minutes right now to share my thoughts on time and being grateful.  It truly is a journey and we should make efforts each and every day to remember that.

Have a wonderful time here.  I know I do.  And, I just started in September.  It's a blast when I can get to it.  I have some skills to polish up on, too.
