Social Network Links

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty 01845411

I have seen all these icons at the bottom of people's blogs, rather the logo for the site itself, or in the shape of stars, hearts, raindrops, etc. for all these social networking sites. Can someone tell me how I can get my social networking pages connected to my activerain and get those cute little icons as well. I would be very appreciative.

Hi Stacy,

It depends on the website platform you are using. If youe site was developed with WordPress it is pretty simple. You can get a plugin that makes the addition a snap (believe it is called sociable)

I have the facebook "like" or in my case changed ot to the optional "reccomend" button that appears on all my subdivision pages, just not my home page due to a conflict it the way I have it set up.

Adding this button requires a bit of code work done by a competnet webmaster. WordPress has a pluging for it but I tried it and it did not work.

I would not be so concerned with all the little icons for all the social networks... I had them on my site and found they were pretty much ignored. The face book buttons on the other hand have a lot more merit. When a user clicks the reccomend button, facebook creates a new facebook page specific to the page on your site where you and whomever "reccomended" the page can share a typical facebook discussion.

I think too that facebook may have a widget that would be good for a home page, but not the rest of the pages... As time progress and I can shell out a bit more money to the developer I am sure I will add the rest. It is pretty cool how they work.

Hi Stacey.  Check out this October Blog by Michelle McKinney.  Tells exactly how to do what you want to do with the icons.  Have the LinkedIn up on my site and working on my FB fanpage before I do the FB icon.  Twitter a work in progress.

That is one of the questions I have been meaning to work on.  Of course I have so many things going on it might be a distraction more than anything else.
