Paying It Forward: Donations to Warren County Humane Society Animal Shelter
As the economy cuts budgets, one of the places that tend to fall down the priority list are animal shelters, and our local Warren County Humane Society is no exception to that. They've been battling for funds from the local governments that support the shelter, and 2011 probably won't be the end of that battle.
How can you help?
One of the things we've done over the years is drop off dog and cat food. When our last dog passed away a couple of years ago, we took all his left over food to the shelter. We've done the same several times with cat food...you know how PICKY cats can be, so not everything we select works for them..so we make a quick drop off at the shelter (Alan...the food, NOT the cats!). And of course, they'll always accept cash donations!
It's not much in the grand scheme, but every little bit helps. They also have volunteer programs for dog walking and cat pampering. There's an orientation class required to participate.
The Warren County Humane Society Animal Shelter is in Lebanon on Cook Road, right at the intersection with State Route 48. And if you just happen to feel the need to adopt a cat or dog, well you know they have PLENTY of candidates!
