I woke up this morning thinking about what Brother Jim preached about on Sunday. His message, Missing Christmas! You know... getting all caught up in the hustle and bustle of Christmas -- or worse -- simply choosing to ignore the real meaning of Christmas.
As I got ready for work, I began to think... What gift can I give Jesus for his birthday?
You know... he's that kind of guy that has EVERYTHING!
Everything in the heavens and earth is yours, O Lord, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as being in control of everything. Riches and honor come from you alone, and you are the Ruler of all mankind; your hand controls power and might and it is at your discretion that men are made great and given strength.
1 Chronicles 29: 11--12
What do you give the person who has everything?
How about my heart?
In the verse above, I find God, the creator, as the owner of EVERYTHING. The author of 1 Chronicles (perhaps Ezra) recognizes this and "adores" Him. (NIV version)
What does adore mean?
I looked it up on dictionary.com and it said to regard with the utmost esteem, love, respect, honor, WORSHIP.
I like the way that the King James Version words 1 Chronicles 29: 11:
Thine, Oh Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O Lord and thou art exalted as head above all.
This Christmas, above all, let us WORSHIP the King. Lets do it FIRST, before the opening of the gifts, before the traditional Christmas morning cinnamon rolls... Let's put Jesus first on his birthday!
Oh come Let us Adore Him!
It is a gift that will please the one who has EVERYTHING!
