What gift will you bring the King on Christmas Morning?

By

I woke up this morning thinking about what Brother Jim preached about on Sunday. His message, Missing Christmas! You know... getting all caught up in the hustle and bustle of Christmas -- or worse -- simply choosing to ignore the real meaning of Christmas.

As I got ready for work, I began to think... What gift can I give Jesus for his birthday?

You know... he's that kind of guy that has EVERYTHING!

Everything in the heavens and earth is yours, O Lord, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as being in control of everything. Riches and honor come from you alone, and you are the Ruler of all mankind; your hand controls power and might and it is at your discretion that men are made great and given strength.

1 Chronicles 29: 11--12

What do you give the person who has everything?

How about my heart?

In the verse above, I find God, the creator, as the owner of EVERYTHING. The author of 1 Chronicles (perhaps Ezra) recognizes this and "adores" Him. (NIV version)

What does adore mean?

I looked it up on dictionary.com and it said to regard with the utmost esteem, love, respect, honor, WORSHIP.

I like the way that the King James Version words 1 Chronicles 29: 11:

Thine, Oh Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O Lord and thou art exalted as head above all.

This Christmas, above all, let us WORSHIP the King. Lets do it FIRST, before the opening of the gifts, before the traditional Christmas morning cinnamon rolls... Let's put Jesus first on his birthday!

Oh come Let us Adore Him!

It is a gift that will please the one who has EVERYTHING!

Joni - I thought of the song "Because of Who You Are" when I read this.  I love that song!

Joni - I have a book called Red Boots that I read to the kids and it's about a man that had to find something to give Jesus for Christmas. In the end he realized it is his heart that Jesus wants. Cute... and it shows how that love is demonstrated by caring for others.

Joni ~  I'm a King James Version kind of Christian -- it's what I was brought-up on and always brings such comfort when I hear it recited by another, especially at this time of year.  Jesus is the reason . . . Blessings.

How perfect that you posted this today!  Zoe wants to bake a birthday cake for Jesus this year, and my first thought was, "When?  I have so much to do!"  And then, I caught myself.  He always has time for me, I can make the time to make Him a cake.

And then, Joni, as I was taking Zoe to her class tonight, I saw a marquee in front of a church that said, "God's anwers are wiser than our prayers".  I immediately thought of you!  Merry Christmas, Joni.

Happy Birthday, Jesus!

Joni, I like that question: What can you possibly give someone who has everything? He doesn't have everything. There are some who walk around this world with shame, guilt, insecurity, anger, grief, hate, jealousy and fear, just to mention a few. He would love for anyone holding onto things like that to give them to Him as a gift. He is so strange like that... He loves when we give Him our trash... He will give you something in return that is so precious. Beauty for ashes. Happy Birthday to our King of Kings and Merry Christmas to you.

Michael: Merry Christmas to you and yours!!

Mary: I've been singing it all day long!

Bob & Bonnie: :))) I walked around with all of those things! But before I could give those to him (and fully understand what he was doing for me) I had to give Him my heart! Whatever step works is my prayer for anyone reading it. Heart first, trash first... he can handle it any way you give it to him! HE is GOD!

Sorry for any misunderstanding, I wasn't saying instead of giving your heart. More like for those who give their heart but not everything. You know what I mean? Many believers hold onto things that just weight them down. Merry Christmas.
