As agents it is in our nature to work with people and we tend to neglect the importance of organization.  The absolute best book I have read on the subject of business is the E-Myth by Michael Gerber.  This book is the blue print on how to recreate a business to run like a business.  The main highlight of the book is that everything is a system.  There is a system for taking a listing, taking a buyer appointment or even turning in a Price Adjustment.  I highly recommend reading that book at least a couple times.  The second thing needed is a contact management system.  The days of post it notes and random notes are over.  We have to work harder now than we have ever had to to retain business and follow through with leads.  Organization is more important now than ever.

Our team has created systems and models for anything from taking a listing, closing a transaction, to even canceling a listing.  These systems have allowed me to sleep at night knowing everything has been taken care of or the details will not fall through the cracks.  I would love to hear what other agents are using across the country to keep their business organized.

I used to think I was the queen of organization and to some extent I guess my fellow agents at my office think I am but lately with everything I have instituted I am having a hard time keeping on top of it all.

We do have a contact management system, but that is about where that stops, just got it downloaded and the other agent I work with has tons of the proverbial sticky notes, slips of paper, phone numbers logged into his phone, emails logged into his computer etc, etc so trying to get all this into one system has bee a little mind boggling to say the least when it is hard to get him to sit still for a few moments and give you just a handful to start working with.  It will all come together in the end I know but for now I am just trudging through.

Hi Joe!  Try top producer 7i...it is a great way to keep a team organized.  I wish that they still maintained the desktop version...the only issue is if the internet is spotty...otherwise it is simply a great product for teams.

Always... I'll have to checkout that book.  I have finally gotten to the point of getting an assistant... it only took me 8 years (ok, so I'm a little slow) but, not allowing myself to get bogged down in the details is key for me.  Otherwise, it's easy to waste a lot of time... getting ready to get ready.  Thanks Joe.
