Total Lunar Eclipse? I Totally Missed It!

By
Real Estate Agent with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices - C. Dan Joyner 21498

Every now and then, something extraordinary comes along or happens in our world worth noting. Monday night (early Tuesday morning hours) saw a full lunar eclipse occur which this year coincides with the Winter Solstice – two occurrencesDec 2010 Lunar Eclipse Sequence which have not happened in concert in several hundred years. I have been looking forward to this, excited about piling out into the cold winter night to witness such a rare phenomenon.

I had the wrong day. I thought it was tonight – Tuesday. So, I totally missed it. I want a do-over. I feel screwed. I want to reach over and pick up my TiVo remote, and rewind back so that I can NOT miss it. It sucks to look forward to something so much, then miss is because you have your head up your…well, you just miss it. I mean, it’s not like I was busy and couldn’t fit it in…I was in bed asleep.

I want a do-over.

I'm sorry you missed it.  I really couldn't believe they didn't make more of a "to do" over it on the news and all.  I posted some photos from my house from last night.

Hi Faina >> It was cold here too, but not as cold as where you are. Yeah, everyone is raving over how cool it was...whatever. HaHa!

Hi Scott >> If you click on the blue link in my article, it will take you to a youtube piece showing the whole eclipse in time lapse...my friend shot that and it is pretty cool.

Hi Tammy >> Thanks; I'll take a look at your photos. I WAS going to make some of my own...LOL

Hi Trevor >> now you tell me! HaHa! I'll know better next time.   : )

Hi Don >> True, the news had it. I was just hoping to get a gander myself. Oh well.

Early on it was cloudy here in our part of Texas.... but my husband got up a little too late and missed it. He was going to wake me if it was visible... I missed it too! BOO!

We had a nice cloudless night until about 40 minutes before the eclipse. Then a thick cloud cover brewed up and blocked the eclipse. Very bummed.

Hi Steve >> Glad you got to enjoy the full moon; I actually got to take it in too. Just missed the eclipse. Would have had to get up around 3:15 for the total eclipse, but had the wrong day.

Hi Teri >> You are right about the websites; it is nice to still be able to experience it on some level!

I missed em both.  Too much cloud cover.  Good thing for the internet.  I can still see it.  Really like the Australian shot of the eclipse as a plane passed in front of the moon.

My wife was pretty excited about this, so we made it a point to set our clock to catch it at the best time.  So at 2:30 am we trudged outside shivering to get a good look at...the clouds.  Couldn't see a thing.  We're not too far from Greenville so it may be that you were better off getting a good night's sleep.

Thru the magic of time lapse photography, YouTube will let you watch  the whole four hour eclipse in about two minutes.

The biggest problem I have with YouTube is getting stuck there cause there's always another neat video to watch.  Gotta force myself to shut it down sometimes.
